SR. ELECTRICAL DESIGN ENGINEER - FREMONT, CA
Purpose of Position

The Electrical Engineer is responsible for the design of low and medium voltage power systems and acts as the primary technical interface for the equipment they are assigned.

Essential Functions:

  • Perform design, programming, troubleshooting and commissioning job functions as needed to support IEM’s products and to achieve customer goals
  • Create drawing packages for the manufacturing of custom switchgear and switchboards to applicable industry standards
  • Support production during the product construction and testing by answering any technical inquiries.
  • Work with mechanical designers to layout out and create rough front views/plan views of switchgear and switchboards.
  • Select components and create detailed bills of materials for our products
  • Write sequence of operation documents to define automatic system functionality
  • Engineers are expected to take a project from the design conception stage through the manufacturing process and further to project completion
  • Perform design job functions as needed to support IEM’s products and to achieve customer goals
  • Support sales and the project management team in answering customer questions as it relates to the design.
  • Often works on larger projects that range from ($300k to $40 million)
  • Complete short field assignments where design consultation is required (generally less than 3 days at a time and not to exceed 10% of total time)

Education and Experience:

  • Four year degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent professional experience preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in a related field
  • Previous field service experience, knowledge and understanding is a big plus.
  • Excellent working knowledge of MS Office Suites (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project, etc.)
  • Significant experience with Autocad drafting software.
  • Industrial automation experience is a big plus.
  • Advanced understanding of electrical engineering principles and theories as they apply to power industry and switchgear.
  • Experienced in utilizing AutoCAD for electrical design.
  • Advanced understanding of mechanical layout and considerations.
  • Project/Task management and the ability to carry out a plan that moves a task to completion.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Ability to interact directly with customers, sales, other technical resources and management.
  • Ability to handle multiple concurrent tasks.
  • Ability to lead small teams of people to achieve a larger task.
  • Willing to work with less experienced engineers for mentoring and training

Salary Range:

$110,000 - $140,000 DOE
