ENTERPRISE ENGINEERING MANAGER - SWITCHGEAR - JACKSONVILLE,FL/ US FLEXIBLE
Purpose of Position
  • This position is responsible for directly managing engineers to design power distribution products “Gear”, supporting the needs of multiple manufacturing plants, collaborating with the Commercial counterpart(s), and engaging with the end-client.
  • Current products include LV switchboard, LV panelboards, MV switchgear, with others to be added.

 

Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • Direct management of Electrical & Mechanical engineers and support personnel spread across several IEM plants.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Accountable to build a department that has primary point of contacts (POCs) and subject matter experts (SMEs) for all products under your management.
  • Actively grow the team by hiring new staff and providing training and guidance for existing personnel.
  • Lead staff through the routine engineering activities to support all technical elements of products in your purview, including drawings, BOMs, part numbers, configs, instructions, etc
  • Routinely check in with staff to ensure they take responsibility for their work to meet IEM standards within the timelines requested and proactively communicate to relevant stakeholders any delays or obstacles.
  • Lead staff through the development of continuous improvement elements or new features, and/or collaborate with the Development manager when necessary.
  • Routinely walk the factory floors at local plants to work with production teams to inspect equipment in progress and provide necessary support.
  • Collaborate with other IEM departments to ensure engineering activities are aligned with the overall IEM strategy for IP program management.
  • Manage service requests either from the client and/or other IEM departments for technical services and support by receiving, scheduling and executing in timely and professional manner.
  • Maintain existing systems and procedures for effective control of engineering data and improve or develop new ones where necessary.
  • Track, analyze, and report data & statistics regarding the efficacy of staff skills and department systems to drive continuous improvement.
  • Travel to IEM sites or customer locations, as required.

  • Other duties as assigned that support effective management of Gear programs.

 

Competencies:

  • Competency with low and medium voltage switchgear products design and manufacturing, including knowledge of industry standards like UL 67, 891, 1558, 1008 and ANSI C37.20 and NEC/CEC.
  • Strong enthusiasm to build a team and to lead, train, coach team members.
  • Keen eye towards building systems and procedures to support effective task flow.
  • Ability to be flexible with multi-tasking and changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated success collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Highly effective written and verbal communication.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office tools, especially Word and Excel.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum 4-year degree in Electrical or Mechanical engineering or related science field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in the power distribution equipment or close-related industry, preferably directly with switchgear.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a leadership or supervisor role directly managing staff.
  • Familiarity and/or experience with data center design and construction an asset.
  • Experience directly engaging with end-customers/users an asset.
