ELECTRICAL TOOLS AND SYSTEMS MANAGER - JACKSONVILLE,FL
Purpose of Position
The Electrical Tools and Systems Manager oversees and supports the tools, systems, and processes used by the IEM Electrical Design department to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and consistency in electrical power distribution design. This role manages a team of CAD Technicians and engineering support staff and provides organizational and technical support to the design engineering team.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Essential Functions:
- Manage, mentor and assign work to a team of CAD Technicians and engineering support staff.
- Oversee the maintenance and optimization of engineering tools, including CAD software, PLM systems, technical databases, and tools for tracking project workflow.
- Lead tool-related projects, such as implementing new software, updating libraries, or developing automation solutions, from initiation to completion.
- Collaborate with the engineering managers to ensure the support and CAD Technicians are executing assigned tasks sufficiently and helping to resolve any challenges that arise.
- Author and maintain support documents such as work instructions and sequence of operations for utilizing the tools that are used by the design engineering team.
- Maintain detailed documentation of tool initiatives, training materials, and system updates. Regularly report on progress, adoption rates, and system effectiveness to leadership.
- Train engineering staff on tool updates, best practices, and new initiatives. Work with the director and program managers for adoption of tools and systems to improve productivity and efficiency across the department.
- Act as a bridge between engineering, IT, and software vendors to ensure system requirements are met and tools are functioning optimally.
- Ensure the accuracy, completeness, and compliance of CAD designs, schematics, and other deliverables created by the team.
Competencies:
- Strong knowledge of engineering tools, including CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, SolidWorks) and systems like PLM or ERP. Proficiency in developing and managing CAD libraries.
- Experience with Electrical Power distribution system design preferred.
- Ability to prioritize, manage resources, and coordinate multiple projects while maintaining attention to detail.
- Experience in identifying inefficiencies and implementing solutions to improve workflows, reduce errors, and enhance productivity.
- Ability to inspire and guide a team, providing clear direction and support while fostering professional growth.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts and deliver training effectively.
- Excellent technical writing skills for creating clear, concise documentation, training materials, and technical reports that can be effectively used by internal teams.
- Analytical mindset with the ability to troubleshoot and resolve challenges in tools, systems, and processes.
- Comfortable managing changing priorities and adopting new technologies or methods to advance departmental goals.
Education and Experience:
- Four-year college degree in Electrical Engineering, a related field, or equivalent work experience.
- At least 5 years of experience in a role focused on developing and optimizing engineering tools and systems.
- At least 2 years of experience in a leadership role.
