SR. STAFF ACCOUNTANT - JACKSONVILLE, FL
Purpose of Position

This position is responsible for performing accounting functions in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles.

Essential Functions:

  • Reconcile balance sheet accounts with related schedules.
  • Retrieve, review, create and post daily transactions from the bank accounts to the general ledger.  Reconcile the bank accounts monthly.
  • Review, reconcile and post vouchers processed by Accounting Clerks to the accounting system.
  • Review, reconcile, and allocate charges made on the American Express account to appropriate expense accounts.  Post entry to the general journal.
  • Review, create, reconcile and post weekly payroll expenses to the general journal.
  • Review and reconcile PTO balances weekly from timekeeping and payroll systems.
  • Prepare and post prepaid expense distribution journal entries.
  • Create intercompany journal entries for chargebacks and reconcile general ledger accounts.
  • Assist purchasing department employees with transactions when required.
  • Maintain, replenish and reconcile petty cash fund as required.
  • Maintain, review and reconcile fixed asset accounts in accordance with company establish guidelines.
  • Review purchases for application of state sales and use taxes.  Review and reconcile sales and use tax accounts.  Provide requested information to tax department as necessary to timely process monthly, quarterly and annual returns.
  • Review and reconcile progress billings / deferred revenue accounts in the general ledger.
  • Process vendor wire transactions in the banking platform for further approval and release by management.
  • Prepare and post monthly accruals as requested.
  • Assist with month end and year end close as requested.
  • Assist with various additional audits as requested.
  • Perform other duties as required.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 2 years of experience in a plant/manufacturing accounting environment.
  • CPA a plus
